On April 4, TC Christensen, maker of LDS films such as “Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration,” “Testaments,” “Forever Strong,” “The Work and the Glory” and “Mouth of Babes,” delighted members and wives of the Settlement Canyon Chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers with his own experiences and miracles while making his latest film, “17 Miracles.”
Not set in a huge western landscape, “17 Miracles” is much more personal in it’s handling of 17 lesser-known miracles that happened during the ill-fated Willie and Martin handcart trek to Utah in 1856. Along with a few scenes from the film, Christensen tells of some of the experiences that happened during filming that could only be classified as miracles in and of themselves. A good bit of the film was shot right in our backyard. He then guardedly helped us visualize some of the scenes from the upcoming film centered around Ephraim Hanks.
The evening was all together a real feast of wonderful homemade potluck food and a feel-good presentation that left us wanting more.
The community is welcome to attend the Sons of Utah Pioneers Settlement Canyon Chapter’s monthly business and education meeting the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Tooele Senior Citizens Center just across the alley from the Tooele Pioneer Museum at about 50 E. Vine St.
