All three Tooele County girls basketball teams advanced to the postseason in 2016-17, with each showing plenty of potential for the future as well.
Grantsville enjoyed a spectacular year in which it went undefeated in Region 10 play and lost only twice during the regular season. The Cowboys may have fallen short of their ultimate goal of a state championship, losing twice in the state tournament, but they gave local fans one of the finest seasons by a Tooele County-based squad in recent memory.
Stansbury fielded a young team this season, but remained competitive throughout. With a number of key contributors set to return, the Stallions should be a force to be reckoned with as they look to build on a year that saw them make yet another playoff appearance.
Tooele also reached the playoffs under the direction of first-year coach Randy Goss. While the Buffaloes had their ups and downs before falling in the opening round of the state tournament, they hope the lessons learned from this season will carry over –– particularly with just one senior graduating from this year’s team.
