Agent honored for work with ‘Healing Horses’

Bart Havens has received the Allstate Agency Hands in the Community Award for his commitment to volunteering in the community. With this award comes a $500 grant from The Allstate Foundation to the Healing Horses Therapeutic Riding Center.

The Healing Horses organization is providing equestrian therapy for approximately 35 persons with a variety of disabilities. Havens has served on the board of directors for seven months and is helping to develop a website and other public relations materials for the group.

“It is amazing to see what horseback riding can do for people,” Havens said. “It loosens up stiff muscles and can help disabled people to become more mobile.”

Winter riding sessions are held at the Deseret Peak Complex near Tooele. Summer riding sessions are held at the Healing Horses Arena at Pegasus Event Center in Grantsville.

Havens is a Utah native and has been an Allstate agent since October 2003. His agency is located at 220 Millpond, Suite 103 in Stansbury Park.

“Allstate believes that it is very important for corporations to take an active interest in the communities they serve. We are proud to support such a worthwhile department through the Allstate Foundation,” said Pat Meldrum Utah Territory Manager for Allstate’s Southwest Region.

“The grant from the Allstate Foundation will provide support for Healing Horses.” Through the Agency Hands in the Community grant program, Allstate agents and financial specialists are recognized for outstanding commitment to community service with a $500 donation to the organization where they volunteer.

To qualify for a grant, agents must show evidence of volunteer work that has a positive impact on the local community.
