Athletes prepare for crunch time

The next three weeks are critical for local track athletes as they attempt to hit state-qualifying marks. Two major events are primers for the Utah Track and Field Championships scheduled for May 17 and 18 at BYU.

All Tooele County high school teams will gather for the Tooele County Invitational on Wednesday at Stansbury High School. Seven days later, the Region 11 championships will be held at Morgan High School on May 8-9.

Stansbury traveled to Grantsville on April 17 for a cold meet which hindered performances. The two teams battled evenly in boys competition with the Stansbury girls dominating most of their events.
