It has been difficult for all of us to witness the legal troubles and the suffering which has befallen Terri Schiavo and her family in Florida. It is also evident that she and her family had never discussed her wishes in the event of a medical tragedy.
I strongly urge everyone to prepare a Living Will (more properly called a “Directive to Physicians and Providers of Medical Services”) and discuss it with your loved ones. Please see that you have a Living Will in place and that your family knows where it is and how to use it. You could save your loved ones untold suffering with just a little advanced planning.
