More than 1,500 people attended the 128th Old Folks Sociable held Saturday at Grantsville High School.
The sociable’s theme this year was “Because I Knew You,” a line from the song “For Good” from the Broadway musical “Wicked,” a spinoff from the “Wizard of Oz.”
The sociable’s co-chairs, Cindy Cole and Hal Sagers, felt like the entire event went smoothly.
“It was excellent,” Sagers said. “It was a great program, great meal and the entertainment was great. It just went off flawlessly except for the weather. The weather dampened the car show a little bit, but we still had a good turn-out.”
Sagers said he and Cole appreciated the support of all the committee members as well as members of the community.
“That’s what makes it a great annual event,” Sagers said. “We got a lot of positive comments, and a lot of people just thoroughly enjoyed everything.”
Two new co-chairs — Merrill Nelson and Debbie Allred — were chosen to head up next year’s Old Folks Sociable.
