Obit Betty Jean Pett Buenger A“A Lifetime of Service”


Obit Betty Jean Pett Buenger BBetty Jean Pett Buenger, 90, passed away peacefully Feb. 19, 2014.  Born Feb. 12, 1924 in Eureka, Utah, the second of six children, to Victor G. and Artie Brady Pett.  Married Aug. 2, 1944, to Martin O. Buenger of Milwaukee, Wis., for 59 years.  They had one beloved daughter, Jean Arlene. Betty was devoted to her family and dearly loved to be a part of their lives.  Her family was always number one.  She was grateful for her upbringing in the small hometown of Eureka.  She was also a fan of sports and politics. Betty was a people person with a sweet, warm disposition and a natural talent for organization and leadership, leading her to a lifetime of service.  In the Lutheran Church, she served several times as LWML President providing much compassionate service. She loved and trusted the Lord with all of her heart. Served on Tooele Senior Citizens Board and directed the bingo program for 25+ years.  Betty was founder and President of the USU Extension Service’s Tooele Homemakers’ Club, leading and supporting it for 27 years.  Representative from Tooele on the Utah AARP Legislative Committee. Survived by daughter, Arlene Michaelson of Murray; sisters, Elaine (Conrad) Nielsen and Helen (Norman) Miller; brother, Lynn F. (Kathleen) Pett; four grandchildren; and nine 1/2 great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her husband; a brother; and a sister. Viewing Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S State Street, Murray, Utah. Funeral services Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11 a.m., Brownstone Chapel, 6410 S 725 E, Murray, Utah, with a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.  Interment Murray City Cemetery.
