The speakers for the Sons of Utah Pioneers Settlement Canyon Chapter on Thursday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the TATC Building will be LuAnn and Bob Blakely.
Through PowerPoint presentation and personal experience, they will help us understand the history of the pioneer experience from Nauvoo to Winter Quarters during the years 1846 to 1853. This presentation will include experiences about the Mormon Battalion, the sustaining of Brigham Young as the second President of the Church at Kanesville, Iowa, and information about the 90 to 100 Mormon settlements in Iowa.
The Blakelys served in the visitor’s center of the Mormon Trail Center at Winter Quarters in Florence, Nebraska, and as missionaries at the Kanesville Tabernacle in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Entrance is, of course, always free; just bring an item for the potluck dinner, and come enjoy this evening of good food, good company and good presentations.
