Brigham Mulford finishes senior year with region and state honors

Following a first-place finish in the 3A Region 13, the Grantsville Cowboys boys basketball team made a deep run and finished third place at the state championship in late-February. Led, in part, by senior Brigham Mulford, the Cowboys made it all the way to the semi-finals in the state tournament losing to the eventual-champion Manti Templars.

Mulford, who led his team with 345 total points scored — including 66 made three-point shots — averaged 9.6 points and 4.5 assists per game.

Having played basketball since he was an elementary school student, Mulford began playing for his uncle’s amateur youth league in third grade. Once he began playing

“My experience playing for the cowboys has been one of the best experiences I have had,” Mulford said. “My freshman year was a little rough, with all the coaching changes, but once we got coach Austin my last three years were extremely fun with a lot of success.”

In comments posted to the MaxPreps high school sports website, Cowboys head coach Nate Austin gave praise to Mulford.

Overall, Brigham did everything for us this year,” he said. “His leadership was key to the success of our season.”

Though he hasn’t decided on a school yet, Mulford says he intends to continue his basketball career into the collegiate level.
