Tooele was hoping to play Ogden last Tuesday to gauge where the Buffs were against top-notch competition.
But the Region 11 match was washed out and postponed until Friday when Tooele ventures north to play on the Tigers home courts.
Then, the Buffs didn’t exactly have to breath hard in a decisive 5-0 win over Cyprus Wednesday in non-league action.
However the match, didn’t exactly push Tooele either and the Buffs ran into a tough, veteran Tigers squad and dropped a 5-0 decision to the host Tigers Friday at OHS.
The split gives Tooele an 8-6 dual record and the Buffs still own a 2-3 region record on the season.
Tooele Coach Derek Smith said his team played up to its talent pool in the contest against Cyrus.
“I was impressed that we were able to remain at our own level of tennis,” he stated. “It was good to get the win and hopefully that will carry over to Friday in a dual match with Ogden.”
Now Tooele will also battle for coveted state berths today and Wednesday in the Region 11 Boys Tennis tournament at Ogden.
