You must live in the municipality or district to file for a position. For information on where to file and to answer any questions you may have, follow this link and click on the area you’re interested in:  http://www.co.tooele.ut.us/clerk/Elections.htm.

Business License Renewals: Renewals for county business licenses have been sent out. If you own a business in the county and did not receive your renewal form, please contact Rebecca at 435-843-3132 or rbracken@tooeleco.org. If payment is received by the end of June, there will be no late fee, so please get them in on time.

Passports: The number of passports we’ve processed in the clerk’s office has increased dramatically.  Unfortunately, so has the time it takes for a passport to be processed. Processing times used to be 4-6 weeks; it’s now 6-8 weeks. We can also take your passport pictures for you. It’s $10 and we do our best to make you look good.

The May Tax Sale was completed on May 17. We began with over 100 properties to sell in March, and ended up with 12. Thank you for paying your taxes on those properties so we didn’t have to sell them. That is an unpleasant job for the auditor’s office. The property sales, however, won’t be final until the Tooele County Commission approves them at the June 6 commission meeting.

If you have any questions on any of these items, or anything else, please contact me at 435-843-3148 or mgillette@tooeleco.org.

Marilyn Gillette is the Tooele County Clerk/Auditor
