Volunteerism is alive and thriving at Clarke N. Johnsen Jr. High. Parent involvement does not end at the elementary school. Whenever Clarke N. Johnsen Jr. High needs help with a project, all we have to do is call on our PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) members and the assignment is fulfilled. Case in point: For Reality Town the PTSA members came and volunteered their time and energy to help with the various booths that the students rotate through. They always provide a healthy and delicious lunch for all the teachers and volunteers who have donated their time that day. The PTSA also helps with our schools 5K runs, end of the year carnival, junior high school registration, and positive assemblies for the student body. They provide breakfast for the Citizens of the Month awards and act as ushers for the band, orchestra and choir concerts. They take care of the teachers at our school. For example, the PTSA members clean the faculty and staff’s car windows, give Teacher Appreciation Day goodies, and they have organized a lunch for the teachers during Parent-Teacher conferences. The PTSA also runs our school’s very fun and successful “Infection” fundraiser and Candy Gram fundraiser. We would like to publicly thank all the parents and students who help out at our school.
