The Grantsville girls golf team wrapped up its season with an eighth-place finish at the Class 3A state tournament Wednesday at Round Valley Golf Course in Morgan, finishing with a team score of 821.
Erin Shipman was the Cowboys’ top golfer, shooting a 96 in the opening round Tuesday and following that up with a 91 on Wednesday for a two-day total of 187 and a tie for 16th place. Mashayla Scriven was tied for 20th with a score of 192, shooting 98 on the first day and 94 on the second. Raelee Giles was 39th at 219 (104-109), Gracie Lake was 47th at 229 (115-114), Sydney Jensen was 51st at 258 (129-129) and Afton Bodell was 56th at 287 (137-150).
Richfield ran away with the team title, placing five golfers in the top six overall to finish with a team score of 632 — 106 strokes better than second-place Morgan. Grand was third with a score of 152, followed by Providence Hall (756), Carbon (761), Judge Memorial (797) and Union (812). Grantsville finished 25 strokes ahead of ninth-place Manti’s score of 846.
