Donald M. Orlando

Obit Donald M. OrlandoOur beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Donald M. Orlando “gramps,” age 93, died peacefully at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona, Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019.

Don was born in Tooele, Utah, July 22, 1925, to Adelina Perrella and Felix Orlando. He married Rose Marie Zito, June 10, 1950, in Magna, Utah. Together they had two children. He proudly served as a corpsman in the US Navy during WWII. After discharge he began his career in Supply Management at the Tooele Army Depot, retiring in 1975. After retirement, Don and Marie left the snow and cold of Utah behind, moving to Arizona where he had a successful sales career in the commercial paint industry.

He was a lifelong and devoted member of the Catholic Church. Don loved his family and friends, life, meeting new people, sunny Arizona, Utah, tomatoes, and the casino. Thursday was Don’s lucky day, which he spent at the casino playing his favorite slot machine, where he was luckier than most.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Marie; brothers, Frank and Pat Orlando; and sister, Mildred Carl. He is survived by his daughter, Carla Withers; son, Phillip (Vickie) Orlando; grandson Dominic (Angela) Orlando; granddaughter, Felicia (Sam) Enniss; great-grandsons, Stellan and Schafer Orlando; sister, Florence Edde; special friends, Panett, Rex, and Alison; and many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Alison for her valiant effort to revive gramps before emergency personnel arrived.

Funeral services for Don will be held at St. Marguerite Catholic Church, Tooele, Utah, on May 18, 2019, at 10 a.m., with a visitation at 9 a.m. Interment will be at the Tooele City Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a celebration luncheon following the interment.

  1. My heart goes out to you, Carla, Phillip, and Vickie. I will be with you in spirit at Uncle Dons funeral, unfortunately I am visiting with family in Colorado. It is comforting to know that he and Aunt Marie are together again.
    Love always, Jeri
