The canvas is over and the results are finalized for the June 24 Republican Primary Election. The final voter turnout was 12.30 percent.
Commission Seat A — Dean Johnson received 1,301 votes for 45 percent, and Wade Bitner received 1,603 votes for 55 percent. Tooele County Treasurer Jeremy Walker received 1,013 votes for 35 percent, and Michael Jensen received 1,870 votes for 65 percent .
Thanks to the candidates, all who voted, and the wonderful election judges. We couldn’t run the elections without them.
Tourism Tax Advisory Board Grants are once again available. The more information you provide on the application, the better your chances are to receive funds. Show the board how your project will encourage tourists to come to Tooele County.
Tooele County business licenses are past due. Anyone paying for their license between July 1-31 will be assessed a late fee of double the original fee. From Aug. 1-31 the fee will be triple the original fee. On Sept. 1 businesses with expired licenses will be considered out of business and will lose their conditional use permit if they have one. All back fees will have to be paid to be reinstated. Please, get your license renewed.
The Tooele County Fair will be held July 31 through August 2. Start getting your items ready to be entered into the 4-H for judging. As always the Tooele County Fair is a lot of fun. The fair board is working hard to make it so again this year. Let’s support the fair!
