Eva Nora Ortega Rael

Obit Eva RaelA memorial service was held for Eva Nora Ortega Rael on Jan. 13 at the Mountain of Faith Lutheran Church in Tooele. Our precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie and dear friend left this temporal life here for an everlasting life with her creator, father and savior on Jan. 9 in St. George where she lived her last nine years. She was born on Jan. 3, 1932 to Jacobo and Andrea Ortega in Costilla, N.M., and moved to Tooele after her marriage to Rudy Rael. Together they raised a large family and always had their home open for extended family and friends. She is survived by Rudy Rael and her children: Patricia Rael-Nitta, Kathryn (Gary) Veenhuizen, Rudolph Jr. (Julie) Rael, Sarah (Tim) Riley, Dean (Angelina) Rael, Andrew Rael, Mark Rael, David (Carla) Rael and Jonathan (Roxie) Rael, 29 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sisters Rafaelita (Rueben) Martinez, Dee Ortega and Ruth (Richard) Syddall, many nieces and nephews, and her “adopted family” Carmelita Mejia and her two children, Erika and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her father Jacobo Ortega, mother Andrea Ortega, brothers Jake Ortega, Bernie Ortega, Gilbert Ortega, and sisters Mary Padilla, Juanita Medrano and Martha Martinez. Her illness was sudden and a surprise to all because of her energetic and vivacious spirit. She had great faith in God and was always ready to share with anyone. She leaves behind a great legacy and will be greatly missed.
