Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend Eva Lorraine (Lorri) Schmidt returned home to be with her soul mate Fritz on Nov. 8 from medical complications. She was born on Nov. 1, 1942 to Albert D. Fredericks and Eva L. Ziller. She was raised in Ouray, Colo., then relocated to Moab with stepfather Johnny Clements at the age of 16. She married Bill Hawks in January 1960 in Moab. They had one son, Larry Ray. In June 1961 she was widowed due to a tragic mining accident. She enrolled herself into nursing school and graduated in 1963. She married John G. Nicol in Denver, Colo., in November 1962. They were blessed with three children, Lisa, John and Jim, who they raised in Moab. After a divorce, she met her soul mate Fred (Fritz) Schmidt, who she married in November 1975 in Grand Junction, Colo. They relocated between Wyoming and Utah until they finally settled in Tooele in 1976. Her career as a nurse allowed her to work in many locations throughout the state. Her passion was spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors, bowling, trips to Wendover, traveling and gardening. She found relaxation in all forms of needlework and was an excellent seamstress. Her family sought comfort and guidance through her strength as she provided a solid foundation to the family. She is survived by her children Larry (Diane) Nicol, Belgrade, Mo., Lisa (Gary) Porter, John Nicol, Jim Nicol, and sister Jonie Clements all of Tooele, two brothers Buddy (Ovalee) Fredericks of Harrisburg, Ill., and Willie (Nadine) Fredericks of Delta, Colo, step-children Robyn (John) Johnson of Moab, Shelly (Ryan) Stewart of Las Vegas, and Shad (Melinda) Schmidt of Moab, 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her step-dad, her eldest brother Julius Fredericks, and grandsons Dylan Nicol and Rile Nicol. There will be a two-hour evening visitation at Tate Mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 13 and a one-hour visitation on Nov. 14 prior to the service at Tate Mortuary. Services will be held at 11 a.m. in the Tate Mortuary with interment at the Tooele Cemetery next to her beloved husband Fritz.
