Georgia Buzianis Rhodes, 88, passed away Feb. 20. She was a kind, giving and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and love her. She was born on Aug. 31, 1924 in Tooele on the family farm in Middle Canyon, the oldest child of Tom and Mary (Panopulos) Buzianis. She married John Leslie Rhodes on Nov. 20, 1962 in Elko, Nev. In 1975, they were married in the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Ogden where she was an active member, spending many selfless hours serving the church in any way she could. She was a long time member of the Philoptochos Society (lady’s church auxiliary) and the Daughters of Penelope, where she held many offices. She loved working on the family farm (Brookside Dairy) delivering milk and riding horses. She rode her horse for the Pony Express and was a previous member of the Tooele Bit and Spur Riding Club. She began her 40-year civil service career working at Tooele Army Depot, Dugway Proving Grounds and retiring from Hill Air Force Base, Civilian Personnel Office. She had many hobbies, always keeping busy decorating, knitting, quilting and shopping. Gardner’s was her favorite store of all time. Georgia is survived by her devoted husband, John, sons Mike (Kathy) Rhodes and Danny Rhodes, daughter Rebecca Rhodes, sons-in-laws Rodney Musgrove and Randy Bunton, brother Gus (Deno) Buzianis, sisters Letta Valkis and Irene (Mike) Colbath; eight grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews to include nephews Tom Buzianis, Peter (Lisa) Buzianis and niece Maria (Rob) Griffith, whose hearts are broken from the loss of their “Aunt Georgia.” She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters Leslie Kay Bunton and Susan Colleen Musgrove, and brother Louis T. Buzianis. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 26 at Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 674 42nd Street in Ogden, with Father Mario Giannopulos officiating. A viewing was held Feb. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. with Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment was at Tooele City Cemetery.
