On Feb. 1, Grantsville Junior High School students participated in a program called Reality Town. This is a half-day reality simulation in which volunteers man “businesses.” Students are given a career, paycheck and checkbook. They must budget and pay monthly expenses for themselves and their Reality Town family. The students applied for their jobs in a previous class based on their interests and GPA. Through this experience, students will come to see education as a means for better employment opportunities and greater financial stability. In addition, they learned the importance of budgeting, living within ones means, and the financial obligations associated with adulthood and families.
