Gladys Valene Sagers Curry “Meme”

Obit Gladys Valene Sagers CurryValene Sagers Curry, our loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother was called home on Feb. 4, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Dec. 12, 1932 in Rush Valley (St. John) Utah. She was the third child born to Pharis Sagers and Gladys Faith Newman.  She grew up and spent her childhood years in Rush Valley. Valene married Samuel R. Curry, Nov. 23, 1956 in Tooele, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake temple in 1998. She was an early resident of Stansbury Park, Utah, where she took pride in the community and developed many lasting relationships. Valene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was very proud to be a daughter of the Utah Pioneers. She was lovingly called “Meme” by her family which came to be her name known by all. Meme was the rock, the foundation of her family. While she was a loving mother, when it came to her grandchildren she was especially devoted.  Her life revolved around the activities her grandchildren engaged in, she was a constant figure in each of their lives. Meme developed friendships with everyone she came in contact with and was such a joy to be around. Her spunky personality, contagious smile, and entertaining sense of humor welcomed all with open arms. Some things she enjoyed most consisted of reading, talking sports and traveling with her family on any adventure.  Leaving her family with many laughs and fond memories of time spent together.  However, Meme will be most remembered sitting on her back porch enjoying the outdoors with a Pepsi and chocolate candy bar. As a family, we are beyond grateful to have Meme in our hearts. Her influence has had a positive impact in shaping our lives.  We truly have no words to express how to honor her.  We love you more!! Until we meet again… Valene is survived by her husband, two daughters, Debra (Matt) Harris, Korbi (Brad) Hunt. Six grandchildren, Chad (Kori) Hunt, Jeremy (Christina) Harris, Ryan (Sami) Hunt, Jordan (Canyon) Vance, Jace Harris, Jillianne Harris and Ten great-grandchildren.  Brother, Vance Sagers and Sister, Nancy (Lee) Budvarson.
