James Skinner

Obit James SkinnerOur beloved husband, father and brother, James V. Skinner, passed away May 3 at Davis Medical Center ICU after a brief devastating illness. He was born Oct. 6, 1939 in Tooele to Vincent and Georgia Young Skinner. He attended schools in Ophir and Tooele, as well as the University of Utah and Dixie College. He worked at the Ophir Hill Mine, Lehi City, Thiokol and the Mine Safety and Health Administration where he retired. You could take the man out of the mining town but not the mine out of the man. He continued to teach mine safety training after his retirement as he enjoyed it so much. He loved his garden and grew the best tasting tomatoes around with his tender loving care. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Jim is survived by his loving wife Linola, children Anna Skinner, Mike Skinner (Becky), children of Linnea Zimmerman, sons Vincent Skinner (Kristina), Austin Skinner (Haylee), sons of Linola Skinner, brother John Skinner (Chris), and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Gladys Ann. Funeral services will be held at noon on May 11 at the Kaysville 13th Ward, 875 E. 200 North in Kaysville, where friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in the form desired by friends.
