John W. Castagno born Feb. 19, 1938, to Pierre and Virginia Taylor Castagno, died at home, in Las Cruces N.M., March 14, 2014. Raised in Tooele County, graduated from Yuma, Ariz. High School, John joined U.S. Air Force and served at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. There he married Joyce Gaddis and had two sons. Divorce in 1976 John retired after 35 years at Dugway in January 1993. John married the love of his life, Maryann Bungard Nov. 18, 1995. A Mason, John joined Lodge No. 11, Tooele, Utah, in 1966. Later joining Lodge No. 9, in Eureka, Lodge No. 7, Bountiful, Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Shriners. Eastern Star (Tooele No. 25 and Lynn No. 1) was his life and the friends were his treasures. John was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, brothers Sylvester, Wayne (Millie), Jay (Betty), sister Joetta and grandson Daniel John. John is survived by his wife, sons John M. (Connie), Wesley W., step-son James E. Bungard (Frances), sister Linda (Darrell) Rainey, brother Pete(Judy), sister Roseanne McPhaul, and brother David, grandchildren, Samantha Meeks, Mariah, Melissa and Jeremy Castagno, Brittany, Briana, and James Jr. Bungard, One great-granddaughter and three great-grandsons. John requested all memories be donations in his name to SLC Shriner’s Hospital.
