Jule Loyal Clifford Perry passed away in his home April 12 at the age of 85. He was born June 4, 1927 in Roosevelt to Loyal Perry and Julia Nielson. His precious mom Julia died a few days after he was born and he was raised by his father and his other mom, Thora Nielson. Jule graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1945. He later served an LDS mission in South Africa from 1947 to 1949. He loved the gospel and would always tell stories about his mission to his family. He held various positions in the LDS church. One of his latest well known positions was in the primary in which his large stature kept reverence among the children.
Jule married the love of his life, Betty Hope Howell, on Nov. 8, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Tooele where they raised three daughters. Jule always worked hard and provided a good life for his family. He retired from the Tooele Army Depot after working there for 37 years. He also retired from working at the Ritz Theatre and Motor Vu in town. He loved the movies. Jule still went to the matinee movies every Friday and was known as Grandpa Cinema. There wasn’t a time that he wasn’t helping his many sisters-in-law and family throughout his life. He was always there for them. Jule volunteered a lot of his time with his wife Betty at the Tooele Nursing Home. They would play bingo with the elderly and Jule would be dragged to many yard sales to get bingo prizes. He loved every western he could see. Every time you went to his home a western was playing loudly on his television and he was always frying something on the stove. He lived a simple life and gave all that he had. Jule fought a long courageous battle with diabetes and in the past few months his body was just wearing down. Jule is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Leonald Perry, brother in-law Tom Kellar, and sons-in-law Karl Gordon and Jack Henwood. Jule is survived by his three daughters, Diane Gordon, Cheryl Henwood and Glenda (Rob) Bender, brothers Merlyn (Karen) Perry and Duane (LaWella) Perry, and sister Reva Kellar. Jule has 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held April 19 at 11 a.m. at the Tooele Stake Center, 253 S. 200 East. A viewing will be held the same day from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Tooele City Cemetery. We will miss you, Dad. Thanks for your great example on life.
