Kenneth Orson Stevens of Visalia, Calif., returned to the arms of our Loving Heavenly Father on Jan. 18, 2014 in Visalia due to ongoing health issues. Kenneth O. Stevens was born Sept. 20, 1939 in Salt Lake City to parents Ray Levoy Stevens and Grace Inez Callister Stevens. He married the love of his life Karen Ann Nelson on May 8, 1959 they were later sealed in the Fresno California Temple on May 7, 2011. Ken and Karen are the parents of 6 children; Mike (Carol) Stevens, Cyndy (George) Christiansen, Terri (Scott) Criner, Bonnie (Vince) Brown , Jacki (Lane) Kendall , and Gwyn (Thomas) Thiele. Ken and Karen also have 23 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Ken is remembered for his kind heart, willingness to give, witty sense of humor, and hard work ethics. Ken was an avid collector/treasure hunter. He often took his family on trips and hikes to find cans, petrified wood, rocks, and artifacts. He enjoyed collecting antiques, coins, and items that made good conversation pieces or that told a story. He recently took up a hobby to bid on storage auctions and treasure hunt that way. He enjoyed yard sales and estate sales often saying “another man’s junk is another man’s treasure” He enjoyed taking trips with his family to explore new places. Ken loved any outdoor activity especially camping, fishing, and hunting. His children and grandchildren always came first and he spent much of his time sharing stories, educating, and involving them in his passions. He was a true example to all. Kenneth owned and operated Richfield Tire Center and Richfield Tire and Truck Center in Richfield, Utah. He later moved to Tooele where he worked at the Tooele Army Depot then went off to become a part delivery driver for European Auto and Parts Plus. He enjoyed this position very much because it embraced his love for meeting and visiting with people on a daily basis. Kenneth is survived by his children, brothers; Monty (Jeri), Bud (Barbara), and Glen Stevens, sister in law RoseMary (Chris) Cantrell. Kenneth is preceded in death by his eternal companion Karen Ann, his parents, a brother and sister in law Wayne (Juanita) Stevens and infant brother, his father and mother in law Ross P. Nelson and Mary Nash Nelson and two grandchildren John Paul Kent Smith and Cheyenne Maddyson Thiele. Funeral Services will be held at Tate Mortuary in Tooele on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014. The time of service is still pending please call in advance. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Doctors and nurses at KaWeah Delta in Visalia California for the care they gave our daddy. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, 10 a.m., Tate Mortuary. A viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 24 from 6-8 p.m. and one prior to Saturday service.
