Obit Leota WinklerLeota Brady Winkler, 95, passed away Jan. 31. She was a longtime resident of Tooele. She was born Oct. 11, 1917 in Fairview, the first child of Della Hurst and Sidney A. Brady. She attended schools in Fairview and graduated with honors from North Sanpete High School on May 14, 1936. She gave one of the graduation talks at her commencement. Leota married Wendell A. Winkler of Mt. Pleasant in the Manti Temple on June 25, 1941. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and through the years she served many callings, including primary teacher, primary president, stake primary board member, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School secretary, Relief Society teacher, visiting teacher and ward librarian. Leota was a very loving mother and sacrificed so each of her children was able to earn a college education. She supported her children and grandchildren on their LDS missions. She always remembered birthdays and special occasions. In 1962, Leota accepted a position at the Tooele Army Depot. She received numerous awards during her working career of 21 years. Leota was preceded in death by her husband Wendell, her parents, her brothers Ross Sidney Brady and Melvin Earl Brady, and sister Zelda Brady Winkler. Leota is survived by her children Vernon Winkler, Melvin (Linda) Winkler, Nila (Richard) Hicken, and Albert (Lorna) Winkler. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Feb. 8 at noon in the Tooele Third Ward building, 141 W. Utah Ave. The viewing will be from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services.
