A Dugway man has been arrested and charged for allegedly pointing a gun at his wife and threatening to kill them both.
According to a probable cause statement, on July 14, the 35-year-old man, whom the Transcript-Bulletin is not naming to protect the identity of the victim, was angry because his wife had not finished filling out online divorce papers, and the two began fighting. About two hours later, in the early afternoon, the man got a handgun, cocked it and allegedly told her he was going to shoot her and then himself.
According to the statement, when the woman tried to calm him down, he put the barrel of the gun underneath his chin and said he was going to kill himself, and the woman covered her eyes. When she uncovered her eyes, the man had the gun back down at his side, with his finger still on the trigger, and then started to walk around the house while she remained in her room.
Police were called about five hours afterward, according to the probable cause statement, at which time they confiscated the gun and investigated the incident. The man was arrested for aggravated assault in a domestic violence situation. He was charged in 3rd District Court last week with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony. He made his first court appearance Monday.
