Marjorie Smith

Obit Marjorie SmithMarjorie Ruth Sutton Smith, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed from this life on Aug. 24. She was born on Feb. 2, 1924 in Grantsville to Verdi Grant Sutton and Adna Margaret Boyer Sutton, the oldest of eight children. She married her sweetheart, Harvey Gene Smith, on June 17, 1942 and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had four children: Tom (Rita); Mitch (Suzi); Susan; Sherie (Conrad). She left a posterity of 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. Mom looked forward to going visiting teaching every month. Her caring attitude was an integral part of her life. She enjoyed sharing herself with everyone and lived a life of service and compassion. Her other talents included being a dedicated homemaker, keeping an immaculate home, spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always remembering the birthdays of family and friends, and sacrificing her own needs for the needs of others. Mom was a member of Senior Circle and volunteered for many years at Mountain West Medical Center. She worked a number of years at the Tooele Army Depot. Dad and Mom enjoyed spending time together with friends traveling to different LDS Temples in the various states, seeing Nauvoo for their 60th wedding anniversary. In their later years, Dad and Mom enjoyed sitting on their deck watching the hummingbirds come and go, eating ice cream, and being together. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Mom, we will certainly miss you. We love you and look forward to being with you again. Families are forever. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Barbara Herrera and Cherylynn Miller, her hospice caregivers for the loving and exceptional care they gave to our mother. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m. at the Tooele 4th/14th Ward Building, 181 W. 200 South.  Visitation will be held before the service from noon to 12:45 p.m. Interment Tooele City Cemetery.
