Stansbury’s Trey Osterud fired back-to-back rounds of 75 for a two-day total of 150 at the 3A State Golf Championship Wednesday and Thursday at Mountain Dell Golf Course in Salt Lake City.
The score put him in a tie for sixth place at state with three other golfers from Snow Canyon, Bear River and Juan Diego.
Mitchell Schow of Park City ran away with the individual title, shooting a two-day total 137, which was eight strokes ahead of second-place Taylor Cummings of Desert Hills who shot 145. Three golfers shot 147 to tie for third place with two of them from Dixie and one from Juab.
Stansbury shot 327 as a team on Thursday after shooting 324 on Wednesday for a two-day total 651 good enough for eighth place.
The top-four scores for the Stallions on Thursday came from Osterud, Sam Babcock 81, Tom Griffth 82 and Ryan Romero 90.
Tooele finished 10th with a two-day team total of 680. Jerzee Houston, who fired a 76 on Wednesday, was off his game on Thursday with an 87. Braxton Quinn shot 84 on Thursday after an 82 on Wednesday. Eric Egelund improved dramatically on the second day. He shot 84 on Thursday after shooting 103 on Wednesday. Marcus Bunn came through with an 87 on Thursday after shooting 97 on Wednesday.
The Buffaloes shot 680 for the meet with 338 on Wednesday and 342 on Thursday.
