A woman was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Main Street at the intersection with 1280 North on Monday, according to the Tooele City Police Department.
Around 4 p.m., a passenger car heading westbound on 1280 North turned left and struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk, Tooele City police said. The victim, a 66-year-old woman, was not identified by police, but was transported by ambulance to a Salt Lake-area hospital in an unknown condition.
The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian and the accident is still being investigated to determine if the driver’s visibility was obstructed, according to Tooele City police.
As a result of the accident, there were traffic delays in the area of Main Street and 1280 North, police said. One southbound lane of Main Street was closed for about 15 minutes as a result of the crash.
