Philip Gibson Baker, 91, passed away Feb. 25 in Salt Lake City. Born Jan. 16, 1921, to John Philip and Philena (Gibson) Baker in Roosevelt. He served honorably in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was very involved in many volunteer programs and gave countless hours to the 4-H, little league sports programs, scouts and the county fair council. Married to Teddie Mae (Stanley) Baker on June 3, 1946, solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1951. Teddie Mae passed April 16, 2002. He Later married Patricia Shumway on Dec. 10, 2003. He loved and cared for his large and growing family. He was a loving Father to Myra (Dave) Ripley, Glen (Ann) Baker, Patricia (John) Stevens, Donna (Michael ) Elder, Clayne (Elizabeth) Baker, Kate (Bill) Besendorfer, Scott (Debbie) Baker, Robb Baker, Andrea (Ken) McCoy and Chuck Baker. Also three step-children: Vic, Shari and Scott. Loving grandfather to 27 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his beloved grandchildren, Clayne Philip Baker, Scotty D. Baker, Wyatt Gibson Beare and Ivie Allred. Funeral services will be held March 1 at 1 p.m. at 428 S. Hale Street in Grantsville. Friends may call prior to the funeral from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Also Feb. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the LDS ward house at 7805 S. 4000 W. Interment will be at the Grantsville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers you may send a donation to the Salt Lake City 4-H Club.
