Plan ahead to get your passport

Spring has definitely sprung in the Clerk’s Office. Everyone has spring fever and is eager to start traveling again. We are processing large amounts of passports each day. Please plan ahead and realize that current processing times are two to three months for standard service and four to six weeks with an expedited fee. We are also by appointment only, so give us a call to set up a time at 435-843-3155. By Tuesday we are usually booked for Friday.

It is exciting to see people eager to travel and have experiences again. We are happy to help you get your passport on time, but planning ahead and having all needed documents will help the process go smoothly and get your passport to you sooner.

Visit travel.state.gov for free passport forms. Use the DS-11 form for new passports and the DS-82 form for adult passports that have not been expired for more than five years (if so, you can’t renew; give us a call). These forms are free online and if you come across a site that offers to “help” you fill out the application, these are businesses trying to get you to pay for a free service. Don’t pay for a free application. Passports cannot be ordered or renewed online. You can only obtain the free application. Let us know how we can help with your passport needs.

Tenille Tingey is the Chief Deputy Clerk for Tooele County.
