I would like to offer a word of thanks to the good people of Tooele County. On Thursday, March 12, everything began to shut down in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grocery stores were slammed as people rushed to stock up on food and essentials, and many stores were quickly emptied. From the Salt Lake Valley, we heard reports of customers pushing, grabbing, cutting in line, screaming at store employees, in their attempt to get the things they felt they needed. My wife and I joined the frenzy at Macey’s in Tooele on Thursday afternoon. The store was packed, some items already sold out, and many others going fast. But. The people we encountered there, both customers and employees, were without exception patient, courteous, even friendly. It seemed to me a tribute to the class and quality of our neighbors in Tooele and Grantsville. I am proud to live among you.
