Even though the Grantsville Reservoir located south of the city has been overflowing since April 20, Lynn Taylor, Grantsville Irrigation Company’s water master, said there is no need for concern.
“We know about the overflow and we are dealing with it,” Taylor said Monday. “The excess water goes into our flood control. I go to the reservoir and check on it and on the flood control system every day to make sure there are no problems.”
Taylor added that all irrigation lines have been turned on, with the exception of those located in South Willow Estates. Lines in that subdivision should be open by the end of this week.
Even though the snow-pack is better this year, Grantsville Irrigation Company officials are still encouraging water conservation and will enforce residential restrictions. Restrictions include: sprinklers cannot be left in one spot for more than 90 minutes; maximum usage per week cannot exceed eight hours per share; no unattended open hoses; no watering between 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
