Ruth Lavon Hammond Henwood, 91, returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014. Ruth, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend was born on Aug. 3, 1922. She was the seventh of nine children born to Frank C. Hammond and Violet Binnall Hammond in Twin Falls, Idaho. Ruth grew up in Grantsville, Utah. She graduated from Grantsville High School in 1940. She married Willard S. Henwood, on March 2,1942. Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 29,1958. They had three boys, James (Debra), William, and Gordon (Hazel). Ruth was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She worked at TEAD for many years. After retiring she served a mission in Guam for the LDS church. She loved her Heavenly Father and being a member of the LDS church. She truly loved and lived the Gospel. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Willard, her parents, and her 8 siblings, Leo, Fern, Paul, Earl, Edna, Clyde, Vera, Lucy. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at the Clark 2nd Ward church at 81 N. Church St. in Grantsville, Utah. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. There will be a viewing prior to the service, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Internment will be at the Grantsville Cemetery.
