Grantsville tennis vs. Union

The Grantsville tennis team swept all three doubles matches en route to a 4-2 win over Union on Tuesday afternoon. Peter Kurtz picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Andrew Dalton and Jase Wilson won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Weston Tuckett and Parker Killian won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles. David Christensen and Robby McNeil won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 doubles. Porter Whitworth lost 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Josh Walker lost 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Grantsville will face Juan Diego in a non-region match Monday.

Grantsville baseball
vs. Park City

The Grantsville baseball team fell into a 6-0 hole in the first four innings and never recovered as Park City beat the Cowboys 9-2 on Tuesday in Grantsville. Brody Barney, Jake Paxton and Shaden Lazenby each had a double for the Cowboys (8-10, 1-6 Region 10), who were scheduled to face Tooele on Thursday in a game that was not complete at press time.

Tooele baseball vs. Union

The Tooele baseball tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, but gave up two runs in the top of the eighth and went on to lose 4-3 to Union on Tuesday at Dow James Park. The Buffaloes (4-8, 0-7) traveled to Grantsville on Thursday for a Region 10 game that was not complete at press time.

Stansbury softball at Lehi

Aly Oxborrow homered and Bailey Christensen picked up the win in the pitcher’s circle as Stansbury beat Lehi 5-2 in a non-region road game Wednesday. The Stallions play host to Tooele in a crucial region game Friday.

Utah Jazz

Gordon Hayward scored 27 points, Utah controlled the paint, and the Jazz beat the Los Angeles Clippers 96-92 on Tuesday night to take a 3-2 lead in their first-round playoff series. Hayward returned after missing most of Utah’s win in Game 4 because of food poisoning that caused him to lose weight and energy. Game 6 of the best-of-seven series is Friday at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City.
