Stansbury softball at Ogden

The Stansbury softball team erupted for 23 runs in the top of the first inning and cruised to a 28-1 win over Ogden in a Region 11 road game on Tuesday that was shortened to three innings by the Mersey rule. Maame Johnson had a double and a triple for Stansbury, while Lacey Davies had two doubles, Payten Staley tripled and Tori Koerner doubled as part of a 17-hit outburst. Madi Hicks earned the win in the circle for the Stallions, who will play host to Juan Diego in a Region 11 game Friday.

Judge Memorial

Grantsville scored a dozen runs in the first inning of an eventual 15-0 win over Judge Memorial in a Region 13 softball game Tuesday in Grantsville. The game was ended by the mercy rule after three innings of play. Hailey Delaney was 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs for the Cowboys (7-4, 3-0 Region 13), and Rylee Udom was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Maddison Peterson, Breana Hiatt and Hannah Butler each had a pair of RBIs. Peterson allowed one hit and struck out six in three innings in the pitcher’s circle. The Cowboys will travel to Bluffdale to face Summit Academy in a Region 13 contest Friday afternoon.

Grantsville baseball vs. Summit Academy

Grantsville’s baseball team opened Region 13 play with a thrilling 3-2, walk-off victory over Summit Academy on Tuesday in Grantsville. Parker Thomas was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI at the plate and gave up just two runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts and a walk in a complete-game effort on the mound. Chace Gipson was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Cowboys.

at Ogden

The Stansbury boys soccer team suffered its second consecutive loss, falling to Ogden 1-0 in a Region 11 contest Wednesday afternoon in Ogden. The Stallions (6-5-1, 4-2-1 Region 11) remain three points ahead of Bonneville and Ogden for first place in the region standings, though Bonneville has played one fewer region game and Ogden has played two fewer. Stansbury will play host to Juan Diego next Wednesday.

at Kearns

The Grantsville boys soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Kearns in a non-region road game Wednesday afternoon. The Cowboys (1-7, 0-3 Region 13) will play host to Wendover in a non-region game Friday afternoon before resuming Region 13 play next Wednesday at Summit Academy.

at Intermountain Christian

Ignacio Delmuro had a pair of goals for Wendover in its 5-2 loss to Intermountain Christian in a Region 16 road game Wednesday. The Wildcats (1-4, 1-3 Region 16) will travel to Grantsville for a non-region contest Friday afternoon.

at Summit Academy

The Grantsville baseball team led 3-0 after the top of the first inning on Wednesday, but Summit Academy came storming back with seven unanswered runs en route to a 7-4 win over the Cowboys in the second game of a three-game Region 13 series in Bluffdale. Josh Staley was 2-for-3 at the plate and Taylor Wood was 1-for-3 with a double for the Cowboys (8-6, 1-1 Region 13). Ethan Merrill was credited with the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings. The teams will wrap up their series Friday afternoon in Grantsville.
