Mayhew brought the fans to their feet as he made a daring pass by Lupton in Turn 4 on the final lap of the race to score his third NASCAR K&N Pro Series West victory of the year Saturday. The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West runs at Miller Motorsports Park on Sept. 12-14.

Swan permits

Hunters can apply for a permit to hunt tundra swans in Utah this fall starting Tuesday, Aug. 26. Hunters might want to apply as close to Aug. 26 as possible — the application period isn’t very long. To be included in the draw for permits, applications must be received no later than 11 p.m. on Sept. 4. Those who haven’t completed Utah’s one-time Swan Hunter Orientation course, you must complete the course before you apply for a permit. The course is available on the Division of Wildlife Resource’s website at www.utah-hunt.com/utswancourse. Hunters only have to complete the course once, so if you’ve already completed it, you don’t need to take the course again.

Clippers on Nov. 29 and Jan. 28 and the L.A. Lakers on Jan. 16 and March 19, and the Northwest Division rival Oklahoma City Thunder on Nov. 18 and March 28. Utah will play all Eastern Conference teams twice each and Western Conference teams four times apiece, with the exception of four out-of-division Western Conference teams which it will face just three times.
