Stansbury boys basketball at Hillcrest

The Stansbury boys basketball team led by six points entering the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s game in Midvale against Hillcrest, but the Huskies outscored the Stallions 25-15 over the final eight minutes to hand SHS a 61-57 loss. Landen Giles led the Stallions (0-2) with 17 points, and Jacob White added 15. Stansbury will travel to Grantsville on Friday for a non-region rivalry game.

Grantsville girls basketball vs. Mountain Ridge

Grantsville’s girls basketball team outscored visiting Mountain Ridge 24-4 in the first quarter en route to a 58-33 win over the Class 5A Sentinels on Tuesday at Grantsville High School. Senior Maison White just missed a triple-double, scoring 16 points to go with 19 rebounds and seven steals for the Cowboys (2-0). Ellie Thomas had 15 points, Kenzie Allen had 11 points and nine steals and Emily Backus added eight points and five steals. Grantsville faced Richfield in a non-region road game that was not complete at press time Thursday. The Cowboys will be on the road again Monday night in Price against Carbon, as well as Tuesday night against Delta.

Dugway boys basketball vs. Mount Vernon

The Dugway boys basketball team suffered its fourth loss of the season Wednesday night, falling to Mount Vernon 79-29 at home. Weston Mavity and Tyi Bear each had nine points for the Mustangs (0-4), who will take part in the Pinnacle Panther Winter Classic on Friday and Saturday.
