Tooele boys basketball vs. Mountain Crest

Justin Rogers had 22 points and Brandon Vorwaller added 13 to lead the Tooele boys basketball team to a 56-39 win over Mountain Crest in a non-region game Tuesday night in Hyrum. Canyon Christensen added eight points for the Buffaloes in the win as THS built a 17-4 lead after the first quarter. The Buffs will travel to St. George for games against Dixie and Desert Hills on Friday and Saturday before Tuesday’s Region 10 opener at Stansbury.

Dugway boys basketball at Mount Vernon Academy

The Dugway boys basketball team managed just 10 first-half points in a 47-29 loss to Mount Vernon Academy in a non-region game Tuesday night in Murray. Tyi Bear led the Mustangs (1-5) with 17 points in the loss. Dugway will take part in Pinnacle’s tournament Friday and Saturday in Price, facing Pinnacle, West Ridge Academy and Freedom Prep Academy.

Grantsville girls basketball at Mountain Ridge

The Grantsville girls basketball team improved to 5-0 this season with a 51-29 win over Mountain Ridge in a non-region game Tuesday night in Herriman. Ashlee Edwards had 17 points to go with five rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Cowboys, and Maison White had 16 points, five rebounds and six steals. Freshman Ellie Thomas added seven points and senior Kylee Thomas had five points and 10 rebounds. Grantsville played a non-region road game against Mountain Crest on Thursday night after press time. The Cowboys will return to action Wednesday at home against Tintic.

Stansbury girls basketball vs. Green Canyon

The Stansbury girls basketball team trailed powerhouse Green Canyon by just five points entering the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s non-region game at Stansbury High School, but the visiting Wolves pulled away for a 47-35 win over the Stallions. Malia Tia had nine points and six rebounds for Stansbury (2-2), while Malia Tia had eight points, 10 rebounds and four assists and Hannah Anderson added eight points. The Stallions committed 27 turnovers in the loss. Stansbury will travel to Park City for a non-region game Friday night before opening the Region 10 season at home against Tooele on Tuesday.

Stansbury boys basketball at Hunter

Peyton Thevenot had 19 points and five assists, Payton Gaillard had 17 points and Dave Spaulding had 12 points and six rebounds as the Stansbury boys basketball team rolled to a 76-56 win over Hunter in a non-region game Wednesday night in West Valley City. Kaden Taylor had eight points and five rebounds and Jaden Jenkins added seven points, six assists and four steals in the win for the Stallions (4-1), who played host to Grantsville in a non-region game Thursday after press time. Stansbury will open Region 10 play Tuesday night at home against Tooele.

Wendover girls basketball at Rowland Hall

The Wendover girls basketball team was outscored 17-3 in the second quarter of its 47-25 loss to Rowland Hall in a non-region game Wednesday night in Salt Lake City. Leslie Luna hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points for the Wildcats (2-4), who will play host to St. Joseph on Dec. 20 in their final game of 2019.
