Tooele girls basketball
at Hunter

Tooele’s girls basketball team opened Tuesday’s game against Hunter on a 14-2 run and never looked back, beating the Wolverines 44-32 in a non-region game in West Valley City. Mallory Searle led the Buffaloes (2-2) with 14 points and Makayla Komer added 11. Tooele played host to Summit Academy on Thursday night in a game that was not complete at press time.

at Green Canyon

Mia Thurber’s 16-point night wasn’t enough to hold off a strong effort from Green Canyon as the Wolves defeated the Stallions 58-35 on Tuesday night in North Logan. Former Stallion Taylor Hinds led Green Canyon with 15 points and nine rebounds. Kalee Philips had nine points in the loss for the Stallions (2-3), who faced Juab on Thursday night in a game that was not complete at press time.

Grantsville girls basketball
vs. Mountain Crest

Madison Fields had 25 points and Addison Smith added 10 to lead the Grantsville girls basketball team to a 69-46 win over Mountain Crest on Tuesday at Grantsville High School. The Cowboys (5-1) pulled away with a 26-6 second-quarter outburst. Ashlee Edwards and Maison White each scored eight points for Grantsville, which plays host to East on Friday.

vs. Mount Vernon

Dugway whittled a 14-point halftime deficit down to five points, but the Mustangs were unable to complete the comeback as Mount Vernon held on for a 57-52 win Tuesday night at Dugway High School. Jacob Hoskins hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead Dugway (0-4), while Tyi Bear added 11 points. Orlando Martinez had 41 points, including seven 3-pointers, for the Patriots. The Mustangs face Utah School for the Deaf and Blind on the road Friday.

Paisley Smith had 10 points for Dugway in the Mustangs’ 58-16 loss to Draper APA on Tuesday night in Draper. Kayla Warr had five points and McKenzie Thackeray had one for the Mustangs (0-4), who travel to Rowland Hall on Friday.

Tooele County Outlaws
high school hockey

The Tooele County Outlaws fell to the Cache Valley Wild on Monday night at the Eccles Ice Arena with a final score of 12-1. The lone goal for the Outlaws was scored by defender Ethan Rylant. Bowen Allred, the current point leader for the Outlaws, was injured halfway through the game on a play that led to a boarding penalty and a game misconduct for a Cache Valley player. Outlaws goalie Gage Nichols had 50 saves on 62 shots on net. The next game for the Outlaws is Friday in Cedar City against Southern Utah Independent at 8 p.m.
