Grantsville girls basketball at Richfield

The Grantsville girls basketball team lost to Richfield 52-45 on Thursday night on the road in a rematch of last season’s Class 3A third-place game. Emily Backus hit three 3-pointers and scored a team-high 18 points for the Cowboys, while sophomore Ellie Thomas had seven points and senior Maison White added six points and seven rebounds.

Stansbury girls basketball vs. Logan

The Stansbury girls basketball team lost on its home floor for the first time this season on Thursday night, falling to Logan 54-41 in a non-region game. Sarah Gatluak led the Stallions (1-2) with 19 points and Malia Tia added 11. Amber Kartchner led all scorers with 31 points for Logan (2-1). Stansbury played host to Bear River in a non-region game that was not complete at press time Tuesday. The Stallions will face county rival Grantsville at home Thursday night.

Wendover boys basketball vs. Panguitch

The Wendover boys basketball team was tied with Panguitch 23-23 at halftime of Friday’s game at the 1A Preview in Richfield, but the Bobcats went on a 16-4 third-quarter run to defeat WHS 59-35. Jostyn Gomez led the Wildcats with 10 points and Pedro Alvarez added nine.

Wendover boys basketball vs. Valley

Wendover’s boys basketball team outscored Valley 36-26 in the second half Saturday in Richfield, pulling away for a 56-48 win over the Buffaloes at the 1A Preview at the Sevier Valley Center. Pedro Alvarez had 27 points, seven assists and five steals for the Wildcats (1-1), and teammate Jaime Montalvo hit three 3-pointers and scored 14 points. Wendover will play host to Rich in a non-region game Friday night.

Grantsville girls basketball at Carbon

Maison White scored 17 points, Ellie Thomas added 13 and Emily Backus scored 11 to lead the Grantsville girls basketball team to a 52-41 win over Carbon in a non-region game Monday night in Price. The Cowboys (2-1) traveled to Delta for a non-region game Tuesday night after press time. Grantsville will face Stansbury on the road Thursday night.
