Tooele boys basketball at Riverton

Justin Rogers had 24 points, 18 rebounds and four steals to lead the Tooele boys basketball team to a 57-40 road win over Riverton on Friday. Julian Mahoe added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Buffaloes (1-0), who outscored the Silverwolves 15-3 in the second quarter and led 32-13 at halftime. Tooele will play host to county rival Grantsville on Wednesday.

Tooele girls basketball at Delta Tournament

Tooele’s girls basketball team went 1-2 at the Delta Tournament on Friday and Saturday, beating Parowan 34-20 before a 38-34 overtime loss to Millard and a 37-31 loss to Duchesne. Aysha Lewis had 13 points against Parowan for the Buffaloes (1-2), and led the way with 19 points against Millard in a game that also saw Madi Baker score 10 points. Lewis led the Buffs with 10 points in the loss to Duchesne. Tooele will play its first home game of the season Friday against Cyprus.

Grantsville boys basketball at Central Utah Preview

The Grantsville boys basketball team picked up a pair of impressive victories at the Central Utah Preview in Richfield, defeating Manti 65-61 on Friday before knocking off Richfield 51-39 on Saturday. Brigham Mulford hit five 3-pointers en route to 17 points against Manti, while Tuhker Mulford also had 17 points, Tate Allred had 11 and Davin Ekins had 10 points and six rebounds. Against Richfield, Tuhker Mulford and Allred each hit four 3-pointers, scoring 16 and 15 points, respectively. The Cowboys (2-0) will face rival Tooele on the road Wednesday night.

Stansbury girls basketball at Green Canyon

The Stansbury girls basketball team struggled in its season opener Saturday in North Logan, falling to Green Canyon 77-39. Sarah Gatluak led the Stallions (0-1) with 13 points and Epa Tia added 10 as Stansbury trailed 39-15 at halftime. The Stallions played host to Park City in a non-region game Tuesday after press time. They will face Logan at home Thursday night.
