Tooele boys basketball
at Ogden

Kyler Hymas had 25 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead three Tooele players in double figures as the Buffaloes’ boys basketball team held off Ogden for a 53-47 victory on the road in both teams’ Region 11 opener Wednesday night. Jeno Bins had 13 points and Justin Rogers added 10 for Tooele (3-5, 1-0 Region 11), which plays host to Park City on Friday night.

Wendover boys basketball
vs. St. Joseph

Brayan Mendoza had a game-high 13 points, Monico Guerrero scored 13 and Eduardo Gomez chipped in with 12 more to lead the Wendover boys basketball team to a 76-33 win over St. Joseph on Wednesday night. The Wildcats (11-2) hit 12 3-pointers in the victory. Wendover opens Region 21 play Friday against Milford.

Yanely Duenas scored 16 points to lead the Wendover girls basketball team to a 58-33 win over St. Joseph on Wednesday night. Alana Henderson had 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Tanya Duran added 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals for the Wildcats (12-2) in their 11th consecutive victory. Wendover plays host to Milford in its Region 21 opener Friday night.

Grantsville Girls Softball League

The Grantsville Girls Softball League will hold its annual meeting at the Grantsville fire station on Jan. 13, 2018, at 5 p.m. The agenda will include bylaw changes, fee discussions, unresolved issues, a vote for executive committee, All-Stars, the Dash-N-Splash tournament, the draft and set the time frame for the current season. If you would like to have a voice in the Grantsville Girls Softball League for the 2018 season, attend this meeting. Utah Jazz

The Jazz (16-22) fell to the New Orleans Pelicans by a final score of 108-98 on Wednesday night in Salt Lake City. Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz with 24 points and Joe Johnson added 20.
