Salt Lake Bees

Relief pitcher Jeremy Rhoades represented the Bees in the annual Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday night in Columbus, Ohio. Rhoades was selected to represent Salt Lake after outfielder Jabari Blash, the Bees’ original representative, was promoted to the Los Angeles Angels. In Wednesday’s contest, Rhoades entered with two outs and a runner on third base in the bottom of the seventh inning, but got Baltimore Orioles prospect Drew Dosch to pop out to preserve the Pacific Coast League’s 10-7 lead. The PCL went on to defeat the International League 12-7. The Bees resumed their season Thursday in Sacramento against the River Cats in the first game of a four-game series. Salt Lake will return home to face the Las Vegas 51s in a four-game set beginning Monday.

Real Salt Lake

RSL played Eintracht Frankfurt to a 1-1 draw in an international club friendly Tuesday night at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy. Andrew Brody, who regularly suits up for Real Salt Lake’s United Soccer League squad, the Real Monarchs, scored RSL’s lone goal in the 10th minute on a cross from Joao Plata. Real Salt Lake nearly held on for the victory over the German Bundesliga side before Nicolai Müller scored on a corner kick in second-half stoppage time to pull Eintracht Frankfurt even. RSL will resume Major League Soccer play Saturday on the road against Minnesota United FC.

Utah Royals FC

Megan Rapinoe’s goal in the 54th minute was the difference as Seattle Reign FC held off Utah Royals FC for a 1-0 victory in a National Women’s Soccer League game Tuesday night in Seattle. URFC (5-5-6) remains in sixth place in the NWSL, though third-place Orlando and seventh-place Houston are separated by just five points in the standings. The Royals will play host to Orlando on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Utah Jazz

Jazz first-round draft pick Grayson Allen scored 17 points, but Utah fell 98-90 to the Miami Heat in the final game of preliminary-round play at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Diamond Stone added 17 points, Georges Niang had 12 and Trey Lewis scored 11 for the Jazz (1-2), who faced the Orlando Magic in the first round of tournament play Thursday. A Jazz win would earn them a second-round matchup Saturday against either Memphis or Oklahoma City, while a loss would drop them into a Friday-night consolation game against the loser of Thursday’s Grizzlies-Thunder matchup.
