Grantsville girls basketball
vs. Carbon

The Grantsville girls basketball team outscored Carbon 31-21 in the second half to pick up a 64-57 win over the Dinos on Tuesday at Grantsville High School. Maison White led the Cowboys (2-0) with 23 points and Ashlee Edwards chipped in 21. Jordan Bianco led all scorers with 30 points for Carbon (1-1), including six 3-pointers. Grantsville will play host to county rival Stansbury next Tuesday.

Tooele boys basketball
at Morgan

The Tooele boys basketball team defeated defending Class 3A state champion Morgan 50-47 in its season opener Tuesday at Morgan High School as junior center Justin Rogers scored 30 points. Canyon Christensen added seven points for the Buffaloes (1-0), who led 18-6 after the first quarter. Tooele will travel to Mount Pleasant to face Wasatch Academy next Tuesday.

vs. Hunter

The Tooele girls basketball team found itself trailing 29-5 at halftime and couldn’t recover, losing its season opener to Hunter 58-32 on Tuesday night at Tooele High School. Alivia Cluff led the Buffaloes (0-1) with 14 points and Aysha Lewis added seven. Tooele will play host to Grantsville on Dec. 5.

Dugway boys basketball
vs. Mount Vernon

The Dugway boys basketball team lost its season opener on its home court Tuesday night, suffering a 61-47 loss at the hands of Mount Vernon Academy. Seth Ryan led the Mustangs (0-1) with 22 points and Kota Bear added 20. Dugway’s next game is Wednesday at home against Utah School for the Deaf and Blind.

Wendover boys basketball
at Pinnacle

Jaime Montalvo scored 23 points to lead four Wildcats in double-figures as the Wendover boys basketball team rolled to an 84-41 win over Pinnacle in its season opener Tuesday night. Saul Valle added 18 points, Peter Alvarez had 16 and Jaison Mendoza had 12 for Wendover (1-0), which outscored Pinnacle 25-7 in the second quarter to take a 43-21 lead at halftime. The Wildcats will face Providence Hall on Tuesday night in Herriman.
