Utah Jazz

Donovan Mitchell had 24 points, five rebounds and eight assists, Bojan Bogdanovic had 20 points, six rebounds and five assists and Utah held off a late Philadelphia rally as the Jazz beat the 76ers 106-104 on Wednesday night at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City. Joe Ingles had 16 points off the bench for the Jazz (5-3), while Mike Conley had 15 points and Rudy Gobert had 14 points, 16 rebounds and three steals. Joel Embiid led the Sixers (5-2) with 27 points and 16 rebounds, and Josh Richardson had 24 points. Former Jazzman Raul Neto had 11 points for Philadelphia and Tobias Harris had 16. The Jazz will play host to the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday at 7 p.m.

Utah men’s basketball
at Nevada

Timmy Allen had 23 points and 11 rebounds and Both Gach added 22 points to lead the Utah men’s basketball team to a 79-74 win over Nevada on Tuesday at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nevada. Freshman Rylan Jones had nine points, five rebounds and five assists in his debut for the Utes (1-0), and Riley Battin added nine points and six rebounds. Utah will play host to Mississippi Valley State at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City on Friday at 7 p.m.

BYU men’s basketball
vs. Cal State Fullerton

Alex Barcello and TJ Haws each scored 17 points to lead the Brigham Young men’s basketball team to a 76-58 win over Cal State Fullerton in its season opener Tuesday at the Marriott Center in Provo. Connor Harding had 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench for the Cougars (1-0), who picked up their first victory for new head coach Mark Pope. BYU will play host to San Diego State on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Southern Utah men’s
basketball vs. Bethesda

Dre Marin led five Thunderbirds in double-figures with 20 points as the Southern Utah men’s basketball team rolled to a 110-66 win over Bethesda in its season opener Tuesday at the America First Event Center in Cedar City. SUU’s Dwayne Morgan had 18 points, Jakolby Long had 16 and Cameron Oluyitan had 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. John Knight III added 14 points for the T-Birds (1-0). SUU will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska to face Nebraska in a non-conference game Saturday at noon.

Utah Valley men’s basketball vs. Westminster

Isaiah White had a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Utah Valley men’s basketball team to a 72-55 win over Westminster on Tuesday at the UCCU Center in Orem. Brandon Averette added 16 points for the Wolverines (1-0), who were playing their first official game under new head coach Mark Madsen. UVU will face Denver on the road Saturday at 1 p.m.
