Grantsville girls soccer at Morgan

Grantsville’s Whitney Wangsgard scored twice, but Morgan’s Sydney Cragun recorded a hat trick and Abi Francis and Brooklyn Peterson also scored as the Trojans beat the Cowboys 5-2 in a Region 13 match at Morgan High School. The Cowboys (8-5, 2-5 Region 13) wrapped up their regular season Thursday at home against Summit Academy in a match that was not complete at press time.

Stansbury girls soccer vs. Bonneville

The Stansbury girls soccer team gave it everything it had in its regular-season finale Wednesday afternoon against Bonneville, needing a win or a tie to have a chance at advancing to the Class 4A state tournament. Unfortunately for the Stallions, they gave up the game-winning goal in double overtime after leading 2-1 at halftime, falling 2-1 to the Lakers on Senior Day. Maddy Graber had a goal and an assist and Reagan Didericksen also scored for Stansbury (6-10, 4-8 Region 11), which was eliminated from postseason contention when Juan Diego defeated Ben Lomond on Wednesday.

High school hockey

The Tooele County Outlaws opened their 2018-19 season with a 2-2 tie against East High School on Tuesday night. After East took an early 1-0 lead, the Outlaws tied the game on a goal by Logan Hawkes that was assisted by Mick Hoban. The Outlaws then took the lead on a second-period goal by Austin Weight. Tooele County killed off a two-man advantage in the third period, but couldn’t hold off a late East surge and the Leopards scored the game-tying goal late. Gage Nichols stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced for the Outlaws, whose next game is Monday at 8 p.m. against Herriman at Acord Ice Arena in West Valley City.
