Stansbury volleyball vs. Ogden

The Stansbury volleyball team defeated Ogden 25-15, 25-13, 25-11 in a Region 11 home match Thursday. The Stallions (10-10, 4-2 Region 11) began the second half of the region season at home against Ben Lomond in a match that was not complete at press time Tuesday.

Tooele volleyball vs. Bonneville

The Tooele volleyball team upended Bonneville 25-21, 25-19, 23-25, 25-23 in a hard-fought Region 11 home match Thursday afternoon. The Buffaloes (7-9, 4-2 Region 11) played host to Ogden in a region match that was not complete at press time Tuesday.

Grantsville volleyball vs. Summit Academy

The Grantsville volleyball team rolled to a 25-12, 25-14, 25-8 win over Summit Academy in a Region 13 home match Thursday. The Cowboys (8-13, 1-2 Region 13) traveled to Judge Memorial for a region match that was not complete at press time Tuesday night.

Region 11 golf at Park City

The Tooele boys golf team finished third and the Stansbury boys were fifth at the final Region 11 golf match of the season Thursday in Park City. The Buffaloes posted a team score of 331, and were paced by Bridger Holmes’ 78. Jesse Sayers shot a 79, Tegan Robison shot 87 and Peyton Thevenot shot 89. Stansbury’s team score of 351 was led by Gabe Golden’s 84. Brady Kimberling (86), Hunter Luke (88) and Creighton Patterson (93) also contributed to the Stallions’ score.

Grantsville soccer at Kearns

Whitney Wangsgard had a hat trick, Ashley Wangsgard and Alyssa Roberts each scored twice and Savannah Thomas picked up the shutout in goal as the Grantsville girls soccer team rolled to an 8-0 win over Kearns in a non-region road game Friday. Sarah Ellett also scored for the Cowboys (7-3, 1-3 Region 13), who resumed region play with a home match against Judge Memorial that was not complete at press time Tuesday afternoon.

Cross country
at Bob Firman Invitational

Tooele County’s three high school cross country teams competed at the Bob Firman Invitational at Eagle Island State Park in Boise, Idaho, on Saturday. Grantsville’s Porter Whitworth had the fastest time of any Tooele County runner, clocking in at 16 minutes, 10.80 seconds to finish second in the boys’ Division I Section 1 race. He was followed by teammate Seth Beckett in fourth (16:16.58), Stansbury’s Nathan Winters (48th, 17:00.34), Grantsville’s Jace Wilson (97th, 17:37.26) and Stansbury’s Isaac Nelson (122nd, 17:53.08). Stansbury’s Dmitri Morse won the Division I Section 2 boys race in 16:58.04, with teammates Talmage Ricks (17:15.77), Ryan Brady (17:58.55) and Jaxton Maez (17:59.04). Tooele’s Wyatt Olsen (80th, 18:50.00), Jared Downard (91st, 19:42.77), Jordan VanDerwerken (95th, 20:10.28) and Jared Bird (96th, 20:12.06) also competed in that race. Josh Wintch (41st, 16:12.77) led Stansbury in the boys elite race. Josh Oblad (46th, 16:17.15), Scott Ruebush (56th, 16:25.17), Blaise Miller (75th, 16:37.77) and Dylan Bryant (89th, 16:44.62) also scored points for the Stallions, who finished seventh of 27 teams in the race. James Miles (169th, 17:36.20) was Tooele’s top finisher, and was joined by Ryan Callister (192nd, 18:07.32), Ethan Olcott (200th, 18:28.25), Eli Messick (201st, 18:30.10) and Spencer Moreno (203rd, 18:38.41). Stansbury’s Zoe Hales was the fastest female runner from Tooele County, winning the Division I Section 1 race in 18:33.06. She was joined in the top 100 finishers by Grantsville’s Sabrina Allen (sixth, 19:37.50), Stansbury’s Shelby Archer (14th, 19:51.92), McKenna Rogers (34th, 20:21.87) and Elena Allen (68th, 21:08.16) and Grantsville’s Lyndee Limburg (69th, 21:08.38). Tooele’s Makayla Komer was second in the Division I Section 2 race, clocking in at 19:18.50. Stansbury’s Eliza Beazer (10th, 19:48.08), Miranda Allen (24th, 20:54.53) and Masche Osborn (25th, 20:55.94) and Tooele’s Jamie Johansen (39th, 21:34.10) and Courtney Furniss (22:58.70) also competed in that race.

Tooele soccer at Park City

MaKenna McCloy scored a pair of goals off assists from Sydney Russell as the Tooele girls soccer team played Park City to a 2-2 tie Monday afternoon in a Region 11 road game. The Buffaloes (4-9-1, 2-7-1 Region 11) will host Ben Lomond in their final home match of the season Wednesday.

Stansbury soccer at Ben Lomond

Mackenzie Landward scored twice and Aubree Cheney added another goal in the Stallions’ 3-1 win over Ben Lomond on Monday in Ogden. McCall Littlefield had a pair of assists and Reagan Didericksen also had an assist for Stansbury (6-8, 3-7 Region 11), which is off until next Monday’s rivalry game against Tooele.

Tooele County Outlaws hockey

The Tooele County Outlaws high school hockey team fell 9-2 to Copper Hills on Monday in West Valley. Chandler White and Austin Grenz scored for the Outlaws after the team fell behind in the first period, and Ben Robinson made 28 saves in goal. The team is back in action Oct. 4 at 7:45 p.m. at County Ice in Murray.

Junior Stallions basketball offers eight Saturday skill development sessions with high school coaching staff and players and a competitive league that guarantees each participant eight games.
