Stansbury and Grantsville advanced to the second round in the 3A state softball playoffs with lopsided wins over opponents in the first round.
The Stallions downed Juan Diego 12-0 in their game at Cedar City. The Cowboys defeated Union 11-1 in Payson.
Stansbury advances to meet Cedar on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the 3A tourney at Spanish Fork. Grantsville will play against Payson at the same time.
Stansbury pitcher Kimbri Herring allowed only one hit to pick the victory in the circle, while the Stallion offense ripped 13 hits.
Three Stallions pounded home runs in the game. Herring, Janessa Bassett and Madison Riolo knocked home runs. Riolo collected four RBIs on two hits, Bassett had two RBIs on two hits and Herring knocked in two with two hits.
Alyssa Guymon smacked a double with one RBI. Also knocking in runs were Qyncee Horrocks and Beth Chipman.
Grantsville whipped up on Union 11-1 after five innings on the Mercy Rule. Sydney Barney earned the victory in the circle by scattering four hits.
Kolbi Jo Meno knocked a home run and a double in the game, while Autumn Dzierzon smacked two doubles for the Cowboys. Bailey Critchlow also hit a double.
Grantsville delivered the knockout blow in the third inning when it scored six runs followed by another four runs in the fourth. Grantsville knocked 13 hits for the game.
