The Stallions Wrestling Club finished ninth in in Greco, and 11th in Freestyle wrestling Saturday at the USA Utah Freestyle and Greco state championships at the Legacy Events Center in Farmington.
First-place finishers in Greco in their respective divisions were Logan Jensen, Jaron Jensen and Cole Clark. In third place were Danny Khondet and Koby Johnson. Kole Johnson nabbed fourth place and Easton Baker finished in fifth place.
Logan Jensen, Jaren Jensen and Clark also earned first-place finishes in Freestyle wrestling. Kole Johnson placed third in Freestyle with Baker, Koby Johnson and Josh Larsen in fifth place.
Coach Tyson Linnell said all his wrestler were solid at the tournament and won some big matches. “For a lot of the kids it was their first season of Greco and Freestyle, and to have that many place was huge for all of them,” Linnell said.
The coach said he is happy with where the club is headed and proud of all the boys he coached at state. “We had a lot of kids that were one match away from placing in both styles but just fell short.
The Stallion Wrestling Club ins preparing for the Western Regional in Pocatello, Idaho June 15-21 and Kids Nationals in Orem on June 23-25.
